Lydia Hack, MFT, LMFT
I’m Lydia (she/her), a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who specializes in relational dynamics, somatic practices, sex and sexuality, trauma, and the ways our bodies carry our experiences.
Who I See
For individual therapy, I work with adults wanting to understand themselves more clearly; emotionally & relationally. Many people come in while exploring their identity or their sexuality, moving through trauma, or trying to shift patterns that no longer serve them.
My work is sex-positive and affirming of all genders and orientations. I focus on authenticity, desire, pleasure, and the ways trauma and lived experience shape how we connect to ourselves and others.
For relationship work, I support partners who want to communicate better, rebuild connection, deepen intimacy, or navigate challenges in their sex life or sexuality. I also work with partners exploring ethical non-monogamy, kink/BDSM dynamics, as well as those wanting a more intentional, grounded relationship structure.
Whether you come alone or with a partner, my space offers a compassionate space. A place to tune in, get curious, and build toward the connection and ease you’re longing for.
How I Practice Therapy
I operate with the understanding that your story belongs to you, and our work is to explore it collaboratively and with care. I believe our bodies, our stories, our relationships carry wisdom, and when we learn to listen, new possibilities often emerge.
I also believe in talking about the hard things. The taboo, tender, and often avoided parts of being human: sex, trauma, fantasies, struggles, and the narratives we’re told to keep quiet. This is a space where nothing is too much, too strange, or too shameful to bring into the room.
I work from a systems perspective, which means we look at how your body, relationships, sexuality, nervous system, and larger communities all influence one another.
My approach blends relational, somatic, narrative, and emotion-focused therapy, guided by attachment principles, polyvagal theory, and trauma-informed care.
In short, I see you as a whole human with many interconnected parts, and I help you build relationships within and around you that feel steady, meaningful, and well balanced.
When I’m not with clients
You’ll most likely find me in the kitchen with an emotional-support-TV-show on, out on a boat in Southeast Alaska, stretching and folding bread dough, daydreaming about sheep, putting garlic in everything, telling the same stories to my husband, and playing Catan with my kids.
“Powerful is our need to be known, really known by ourselves and others, even if only for a moment.”
-Carl Rogers, Psychologist
I work well with fighters tired of fighting, holders of others, dreamers. With those holding anger just beneath the surface. Those living with trauma and the ways their bodies remember it. With healers tired of healing and lovers needing to be loved in return. With parents navigating the chaos of parenthood. With seekers of pleasure. Of joy. Partnerships weary of sex or unsure how to find their way back to it. With people wanting more, people wanting less. Those mending, grieving, or growing into something new. With people in the middle of becoming. With those in the thick of transition. With those learning to take up space and letting themselves be seen. With those who value authenticity, liberation, the earth, bodies, humans, and the similarities that connect us all.
Who I work well with
Our Vision
Much like how a bird settles onto a branch after flight, therapy offers a place to land, to rest, and to regain strength before taking off again. At Alight, our goal is to provide a space where you can pause, reflect, and find the support you need to move forward. Change isn’t about rushing to the next destination. It’s about understanding yourself, making sense of your experiences, and feeling grounded enough to take your next steps with confidence.
What I Specialize In
I specialize in helping individuals and relationships of all kinds navigate the complexities of intimacy, emotional-wellbeing, and personal growth. With advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) and Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy, I work from a trauma-informed, body-centered approach to foster healing and connection.
As a Somatic Sex Therapist and Sex Informed Therapist, I bring a compassionate and sex-positive lens to addressing challenges around sexuality, sexual function, emotional/physical intimacy, and relational dynamics. My integrative style is rooted in creating a safe, supportive space for clients to explore their emotions, rebuild trust, and rediscover joy in themselves and their relationships.
Whether you're working through past traumas, seeking to deepen intimacy, or navigating life's transitions, I am here to be with you on your quest.
