Frequently asked questions

FAQs

How do I get started?

Lydia offers a free 15-minute consultation where you can share why you're seeking therapy, and discuss your goals. This is also a good time to get a feel for Lydia’s style and see if you'd be a good fit. Contact us at hello@alightpsychotherapyak.com or schedule a free consultation here.

What are your rates?

Individual therapy: $150 per session.

Relational therapy (2 or more people): $180 per session.

Sliding scale options are available based on financial need.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24-hour notice for cancellations. Late cancellations incur the full session fee.

Do you provide Superbills?

Yes, we’re happy to provide superbills upon request. A superbill is an itemized receipt of your sessions that you can send to your insurance provider to see if you qualify for any out-of-network reimbursement.

How do you handle confidentiality in a small community like Southeast Alaska?

In a place as interconnected as Southeast Alaska, it’s normal to worry about being seen or recognized. I take confidentiality very seriously. If we happen to cross paths in the grocery store, at a community event, or on a trail, I won’t approach you or acknowledge our therapeutic relationship unless you invite the interaction. Inside the therapy space, everything you share is held with care and protected under strict confidentiality laws.

Do you take insurance?

We choose not to work directly with insurance so that therapy can stay centered around you, not a diagnosis. Self-pay allows for greater flexibility in how often we meet and what we focus on, without restrictions or required labels from an insurance company.

Do you offer telehealth and in-person therapy?

We currently only offer Telehealth services for residents of Colorado and Alaska.

What should I expect in my first session?

Your first session is an opportunity to explore what brings you to therapy and how we can work together. We will discuss your presenting concerns, therapy goals, and what you hope to gain from the process. This session is also a chance for you to ask questions, express any concerns, and determine if we are a good fit for your needs.

Do you provide a Good Faith Estimate?

In accordance with the No Surprises Act, clients who are uninsured or choose to pay out of pocket have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency services. This estimate outlines anticipated fees for therapy sessions and is provided in writing upon scheduling or by request. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your estimate, you may dispute the charge.
